Custom-made sheer curtain update for a Surf Coast home
Sheer curtains were central to this striking Surf Coast update, helping bring a warmer, more cohesive feel to the home of Patrick Dangerfield. Champion Blinds had already worked on the property, installing soft grey window furnishings when the home was first built. The original result worked beautifully with the interior at the time. But when Julia later introduced a warmer colour palette, the existing grey sheers no longer felt quite right.

Updating sheer curtains on the Surf Coast
Rather than treating window furnishings as an afterthought, this project shows the impact curtains can have on the overall character of a room. The new custom-made curtains introduce a soft green tone that sits comfortably alongside the home’s warmer palette. Their sheer fabric gently filters natural light while maintaining a visual connection with the coastal landscape beyond. The generous floor-to-ceiling treatment also adds softness and movement against the home’s clean architectural lines.
In the living area, the curtains complement warm timber flooring, earthy upholstered furniture and touches of pink, green and blue. Elsewhere, the translucent fabric creates a beautifully diffused backdrop while allowing the changing colours outside to remain part of the interior.
The result feels considered without being overworked, with the window furnishings becoming part of the broader design rather than simply covering the glass.
